About this API

FSF (Financial Sanctions Files) is the European Commission's consolidated view of all EU financial sanctions adopted under the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP): instead of tracking dozens of regulations, you get one regularly updated file. The entry point is an RSS feed at /fsd/fsf/public/rss that lists the current files with their versions (1.0 and 1.1) and publication dates. The files themselves are fetched from /fsd/fsf/public/files/... via a URL carrying a fixed public token (token=dG9rZW4tMjAxNw, identical for everyone) — not a per-account credential but a static part of the public crawler/download link. Formats are XML and CSV (machine-readable) plus PDF (for reading). The endpoint sends no CORS headers, so integration happens server-side. The database is maintained on the Commission's behalf and mirrors the legal acts published in the Official Journal of the EU; reuse of Commission documents is governed by Decision 2011/833/EU.

Do I need an API key?

No. The FSF needs no API key or registration. Downloads do use a URL with a fixed public token (token=dG9rZW4tMjAxNw, the same for everyone) — this is not a per-account credential but a static part of the public download link.

What data does this API return?

The consolidated list of persons, groups and entities under EU financial (CFSP) sanctions: names and aliases, birth and nationality data, document numbers, addresses, the legal basis for each listing and the related legal acts. It is delivered as bulk XML, CSV and PDF files (currently around 25 MB).

Can this API be called directly from a browser?

No. The endpoint returns no CORS headers, and the data comes as bulk XML/CSV files of tens of megabytes that must be fetched and parsed server-side. That is why the catalog offers no in-browser 'Try it' button for the FSF.
